I like my own hair color, thanks, silver shining through
Brown frizzy curls are graying; it will do
To pin them back loosely and that box of dye eschew
Laugh line creases have begun to appear
No surgeon’s skill has drawn my cheeks back behind my ear
On either side of my face
I choose to mature with grace
And accept my age
Because at this life stage
Authenticity, integrity and valor
Are the elements of self that matter
More to me than endless youth and chemical beauty.
I’ve chosen wisdom over folly
