About this blog…

“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine, There’s always laughter and good red wine. At least I’ve always found it so. Benedicamus Domino! ” – Hillaire Belloc

Where do you find what is always, universally true, sacred… and how do you share it? This space has a nose-bleed inducing, lofty goal: write about everything that we interact with in life, and try to lyrically put the inner meaning into words. Cooking, work, pop-culture and sci-fi themes are all fair game. The God of Grace who made us all was gave us the ability to share in the art and science of creating as we roam through our lives. This is my space to think a bit, share a little, learn a lot. There are still lots of discoveries to make along the way!

And about me…

The word “catholic” originally comes from a Greek root word that evokes the idea that we can glom on to universal, eternal truth. Discovering the amazing, experiencing the moment where you recognize God exactly in that moment, brings us to a moment of Grace. Unpack this? I’m not sure that I really can.

I’m not a practicing Roman Catholic, at least, not anymore. I’m an extremely lapsed one. I’ve found a spiritual home in a low-church, Jesus-preaching, Alpha Course -loving Anglican/ Episcopal congregation in New York City. I’ve roamed, in a very catholic sense of the word, through lots of deep thinking about religious identity and practice… and I’ve found a way of practicing my Christian Faith that’s engaging and allows me to ask questions. Asking the questions helps me travel to a new discovery about life, the universe and The Source of Everything.

So, I’m a practicing Christian. I’m a recovering writer. I’m a pathetic foodie who loves to cook. I’m never reluctant to admit that I’m a nerdy SF & F geek, in love with comic book superheroes and time travel. I work in marketing, dabble in ministry, dream of opening a cafe’. When I can travel, I get on a plane and fly to my next adventure. I roam through my life and enjoy amazement! At my core, all I want to do is write.

So, what am I going to write about here?

The journey examines where everyday life and a sense of The Holy intersect. Work, play, worship, writing, cooking, relaxing, dreaming… everything gets written down here. Hopefully my readers will enjoy what I have to say. And if not, leave comments anyway.

And I might just post cool stuff here, too. There’s always lots of cool stuff.

Love you Belloc quotation and entirely approve your approach and agenda. Here’s to Heaven in ordinary! ( he raises a glass of wine!)
Ps thanks for tweeting my sonnet!

My dear Malcolm, I am honored by your visit, sir. Now I have to carve out more time to write and blog in the wee small hours of the morning. I’ve been a bit too preoccupied to do much here lately.
